A Maine company that's developed manned and unmanned tanks with names like "Ripsaw" and "Riptide" for the military and Hollywood filmmakers has unveiled a new contraption—a high-tech police shield that sits atop a miniature, remote-controlled tank-like vehicle.

霹靂坦克上場 要成攻堅小組鋼鐵護衛

〔本報訊〕美國佛羅里達州高科技「緬因公司（Maine company）」18日公開展示高科技的「霹靂坦克（SWAT robot）」，這款透過遙控操作，配上高強度的防護盾、狀似小坦克的機動車，希望能充分保護警方霹靂小組在展開「第一擊」時的攻堅成員。

　「霹靂坦克（SWAT robot）」係專門為美國特種警察部隊所設計的機器人，主要功能是結合戰術使用，並充做安全保命設施，免於危險人物靠近或受到槍擊，讓警察安全無虞的完成任務。

　不過，這款機動車造價不菲，價值9萬8千元美金（約合新臺幣3百萬），目前正處於受試驗階段，尚未對外販售，且還需經過測試修改後。但軍警界都看好「霹靂坦克」，一旦實驗成功，將對軍事與保全都有很大的助益。
